Baseball at Maclay

In 1983, the underdog Marauders won Districts, Regionals, and Sectionals to advance all the way to the State Semifinals. The team went on to capture the District title again in 1988 after posting an 18-8 record. During the ’88 season, the program also competed in the inaugural Boardwalk and Baseball Tremendous Twelve Tournament. A few years later, the team won the 1991 State Championship after defeating Lafayette Mayo. The team would advance to State the following year, finishing as runner up. The 1993 season would mark the third consecutive year of the program advancing to the State Championship game and the second time in three years of bringing home the State trophy. In 2014, Drew Sherrod is brought in to be head coach, and in two years, the team claims another District title on their way to their first State tournament since 1999. Max McKinley was named Player of the Year, while Sherrod was awarded Coach of the Year, both by the Tallahassee Democrat.
