Summer Work at Maclay

  • Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is here. While the summer months away from school allow students to recharge their batteries and to pursue a variety of recreational and intellectual interests, the summer months can also be associated with some academic lag. Each Division has established Reading/Language Arts and Math opportunities for students to stay engaged.

In order to help your child manage summer work, each Division has created requirements for students to follow through the summer. In the pages to the left, you will find the 2018 summer assignments for each Division. Please refer to the instructions provided regarding assignments and due dates. I suggest that you have a conversation with your child about her/his plan for accomplishing this work. With both Reading/Language Arts and Math required, having a clear, well-paced plan for completing summer work will facilitate your child’s progress and allow her/him to enjoy the summer months while also remaining prepared for August deadlines.

I am excited to round out our summer work expectations and thank you for your commitment to extending your child's education in the summer months. Of course, I also hope that you find ample family time and relaxation. Enjoy your summer!

    Best,

    Charles E. Beamer, Jr.
