After a national search, Maclay Athletics announces Daijah Washington as the new head volleyball coach.
Daijah grew up in Tallahassee where she attended school and played volleyball at Leon High School. As a high school volleyball standout, she was recruited to play at several schools, one of which was Faulkner University where she eventually signed.
Daijah competed nationally during her time at Faulkner University. As a freshman, she was named to the SSAC All-Freshman team. She was sidelined her sophomore year after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in 2017. Washington returned to Faulkner in the fall of 2018 after a redshirt year. She helped lead her team to an SSAC Regular Season Championship, and SSAC Conference Tournament Championship which allowed her team to secure a bid to the National Tournament in 2018. That year she also won Comeback Player of the Year and Faulkner's "Best Game" award after putting up record numbers in her return. She etched her name in the records book as a first-team All-Conference player that year as well. The 5-6 outside hitter decided to forego her final year of eligibility to return home to live out her dream of coaching.
Washington has served as the head coach for the Capital City Juniors Teach in Montgomery, Alabama and the Tallahassee Juniors Volleyball Club in Tallahassee.
We are so excited to welcome her into the Maclay community!
