New Math Lab

New Math Lab

We are excited to announce the launch of the Maclay Upper School Math Lab and to introduce Mrs. Julie Obrecht as its inaugural Director.

Mrs. Obrecht has over 25 years of teaching experience in the Maclay Upper School Mathematics Department. She is known for her deep commitment to her students, her thoughtful instruction, and her ability to meet learners where they are. In this new role, she will continue to bring that same dedication to students in a more individualized and targeted setting.

The Maclay Math Lab is a new support initiative designed to help students who may be falling behind in math, missing assignments, or beginning to lose confidence in their mathematical abilities. Students can be referred to the Math Lab by their classroom teacher or attend on their own accord. The lab offers a structured environment where students can work with a veteran teacher to ask questions and gain a better understanding of concepts. Students may attend the lab, free of charge, throughout the school day. Attendance should not be considered punitive, rather it is a proactive step to help students regain their footing and get back on track with classroom expectations.

As Director, Mrs. Obrecht will work closely with each classroom teacher. In some cases, additional support such as the services offered by the Center for Academic Excellence may be recommended.

We believe the Math Lab will be a valuable resource for many students, and we are thrilled to have someone with Mrs. Obrecht’s expertise and care leading the way.
