Maclay is proud to partner with Seminole High Performance (SHP) to bring nationally recognized tennis instruction to our afterschool program. This partnership allows students of all ages and skill levels to receive professional-level coaching while staying right here on campus.

Meet the Coaches
Nathalie Phelps

Coach Nathalie played collegiate tennis at Seven-time NCAA-D II National Champion Armstrong Atlantic State University where she earned a degree in Psychology. She also went on to coach Division I at Liberty University as the Assistant Head coach for the men’s and women’s tennis team where she earned her masters in Mental Health.
Sudanwa “Suds” Sitaram

Coach Suds enters his third season as FSU assistant coach in 2025-26 after helping the Seminoles capture their first-ever ACC title in 2024. Twice named ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year (2024, 2025), Sitaram is recognized for his elite player development background. At the Polo Tennis Club in Austin, he coached more than 30 athletes who went on to play college tennis, including Fiona Crawley, the nation’s top-ranked collegiate player.
Before FSU, Sitaram served as assistant coach at Texas, guiding the Longhorns to a 26-4 record, a Big 12 Championship berth, and an NCAA semifinal run, while helping Eliot Spizziri earn 2023 ITA National Player of the Year honors.
A four-year letterman and team captain at Texas (2011–14), Sitaram was an All-Big 12 honoree and three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. A former top-50 junior in the world and ATP-ranked player, he competed in all four junior Grand Slams.
Jamie Connel

Coach Connel reached a career-high NCAA singles ranking of No. 22 while competing at the top of the Florida State lineup in both singles and doubles, where he climbed inside the top 30 nationally. He notched dual-match victories over powerhouse programs Wake Forest (then ranked No. 1 nationally) and Stanford (No. 4).
On the international stage, he represented Great Britain at the 2025 FISU World University Games, earning both silver and bronze medals and defeating top seed Coleman Wong, ranked No. 128 in the ATP standings. He also broke into the ATP rankings inside the top 1150 after just three ITF 15k events in 2023. He currently holds a UTR of 13.65.
