Track & Field at Maclay

The track & field program has a long, proud history. Despite beginning in the 1980’s, the first meet hosted at Maclay was in 1996. During the season, the 4x800 relay team finished second at State with a time of 8:10, while high jumper Jamie Ostrov set a State record of 5’8-1/2’. In 1998, the girls team goes undefeated and wins its first-ever State Championship. The boys team also advances to State, where they finish fourth. In 1999, the girls’ team would win the City Championship, Districts, and Regionals on their way to another State Championship victory. In addition to both teams winning the State Championships in 2000, the season also saw numerous broken records in the pole vault, 200m sprint, shotput, and 4x800m relay. Molly Jones also captured the State title for triple jump. The team would continue its dominance in the following years, with the boys’ team winning the State Championship in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2010 and the girls’ team winning in 2002 and 2013. The boys’ team won 19 consecutive District Championships, while the girls won 16 straight. In 2015, both the 4x400m and the 4x800m relays won the State Championships for their events.
