Our Spaces for the Arts

At Maclay, the arts are supported by world-class spaces designed to inspire creativity and give every student the opportunity to perform, create, and grow. From intimate gallery showings to full-scale productions on a main stage, our facilities reflect the seriousness with which we approach arts education.

Cartee Stage
Cartee is Maclay's largest and most versatile performance venue. Equipped with professional sound, lighting, and a full stage with curtains, Cartee is where our biggest productions come to life. From Upper School musical theatre performances to Grandparents Day in Lower School, Cartee is the heartbeat of the Maclay performing arts experience.

Outdoor Performance Pavilion
Opened in 2026, Maclay's Outdoor Performance Pavilion is one of the newest and most exciting additions to our campus. A covered stage area with turf seating, the pavilion brings performances outside and into the heart of the school community. From student showcases to special events, the pavilion is a one-of-a-kind space that makes every performance feel like an occasion.

Beck Family Innovation Center Art Gallery
Located within the Beck Family Innovation Center, the BFIC Art Gallery is a vibrant creative space where student artists, visiting professionals, and community collaborators come together to celebrate the visual arts. Throughout the year the gallery hosts exhibitions showcasing student work across grade levels and mediums, alongside artist talks, workshops, and special events.

Black Box Theatre
Our black box theatre is an intimate and flexible performance space designed for creativity and experimentation. With a reconfigurable layout that puts audiences close to the action, the black box is where students take creative risks, develop their craft, and bring smaller productions and class performances to life.
