Maclay School does not accept any government vouchers or funding for tuition, including the HB1 funding recently passed in the 2023 Florida legislative session. As an independent school, Maclay School does not want to be beholden to the potential oversight, mandates, reporting, audits, or requirements associated with the acceptance of State or Federal government scholarship programs and/or vouchers. As a co-educational school serving grades PreK-12, we take pride in our status as an independent school, determining our curriculum, program, experiences, and efforts to do “what’s best for students.” For additional information on Tuition Assistance, please scroll below.

Maclay School is committed to attracting well-rounded, diverse and motivated students. Enrollment, we believe, should be open to all families which is why we offer need-based financial aid for grades K-12. Enrollment deposit is non-refundable.

Maclay School's Head of School Scholarship is a full tuition merit-based scholarship for two rising 9th grade students awarded each February for the following year.

Fees

Families can anticipate additional grade-dependent expenses for technology, textbooks, school uniforms, and optional before and afterschool care. In addition:

One-time $600 enrollment fee for new students entering grades 6-12.
$600 security and facilities fee for all students each enrollment cycle.
For Grades 4-6, there is a $500 technology fee.

Before School and Afterschool Childcare

The Maclay School Auxiliary Program offers a comprehensive range of programs designed to enrich your child's life outside of school day hours. The Early Bird, Stay & Play, Kids Club, LevelUp Enrichments, and Summer Camp Programs provide parents with extended childcare options and a wide range of lessons and classes, all conveniently located on Maclay’s 100-acre campus. Early Bird: Early Bird is available for Lower School students PreK-5 from 7am-8am (registration and fees apply). The Middle School Center is open at 7am each morning at no charge.
Stay and Play: Stay and Play is offered to PreK3 and PreK4 from 12:30pm-3pm. Students must register for this extended childcare option.
Kids Club: Kids Club is the afterschool care for PreK-5 from the end of school until 6pm (registration and fees apply).
Level Up Enrichment: The LevelUp Enrichment Program provides artistic, educational, and athletic opportunities for PreK, Lower School, and Middle School students. Classes run for 6 – 8 weeks and offerings change frequently. Classes are an add-on to our extended-day Stay & Play and Kids Club programs. Classes are offered 1 – 2 days a week and sessions are announced in weekly emails you receive on Mondays from the school. Please note that LevelUp Enrichment classes are an additional registration and fee to Kids Club registration. Students must be registered in Kids Club to sign up for LevelUp Enrichment classes.
Middle School provides a free early morning Center from 7am-8am and afterschool from 3pm-6pm.
Maclay Summer Camp: No one does Summer Camp better! Registration for Maclay Summer Camp opens in February each year and gives families hundreds of options of camps, sessions, and weeks to choose from. Summer Camps at Maclay are open to the Tallahassee community and often fill up quickly.

Marauder Meals & TruBru

All students can bring their lunch, but they also have the option to purchase breakfast or lunch at Marauder Meals. Prices vary. You can view the monthly menu at www.maclay.org/MarauderMeals. TruBru is open each day and provides grab and go items for Upper School students at lunch.

Students can charge their meals to their family FACTS account which is billed montly.

Forms of Payment

The deposit and tuition payments can be paid with an e-check or credit card.
The e-check has no transaction fees and works like a paper check (without the paper); simply enter the routing number and account number from the bottom of the check.
Payment with a credit card does have an additional transaction fee, not charged by the School but the card processor.

Payment Options Annual (due in August), semester (due in August/January), 10 monthly payments (interest-free June-February) or 12 monthly payments (interest-free March-February) are available through FACTS Tuition Management.

Applying for Financial Aid

Step One

Apply for Admission to Maclay School. Do not wait to be accepted to apply for tuition assistance.

Step Two

Apply through FACTS. Applications open each January through our partner, FACTS, and we encourage families to apply early. Submitting by April 15 ensures first consideration for available funds — applications received after that date are reviewed as funding allows.

To finalize your application, you'll upload the following documents directly through FACTS:

Most recent federal tax return and supporting schedules
W-2 forms for both spouses or household partners
Documentation for any additional income such as Social Security, child support, or workers' compensation

All documents can be uploaded in PDF format. For blended families, we follow the same guidelines used for federal college financial aid — the combined income of the custodial parent and stepparent is used to determine financial need.

Apply through FACTS

Step Three

Your child must officially enroll at Maclay (electronic signature of enrollment contract and pay the 10% deposit, along with a one-time $600 new student enrollment fee for students enrolling in grades 6-12) before your child can receive any tuition assistance or participate in Maclay School or athletic activities over the summer.

Tuition assistance applications for both new and returning families are reviewed beginning in February. Families are encouraged to submit all required materials as early as possible, as decisions are made on a rolling basis once applications are complete. Tuition assistance is awarded based on demonstrated financial need. The only merit-based award offered by Maclay School is the Head of School Scholarship, which is awarded annually to two incoming freshmen.

The deadline to apply for tuition assistance for the 2027–28 school year is May 31, 2027.
