Designed by our own faculty, "Math at Maclay" works to facilitate a love for math while deepening each student's understanding of math concepts.

As a participant in Math at Maclay, students will be challenged to deepen their mathematical mindset through hands-on learning, real-world problem solving, and collaboration. Math at Maclay meets students where they are in their individual math knowledge and supports them as they expand their number sense, increase reasoning and persistence, and explore big ideas in math while having fun.

Spring 2024 Session for 3rd-8th Grade

Welcome to a great year of learning at Maclay! Beginning on September 5th, the Center for Academic Excellence will be hosting “Math at Maclay” for students in 3rd through 8th grades on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:15.

“Math at Maclay” students work in small groups with others at their grade/math level to review concepts from the classroom, receive homework support, and prepare for upcoming assessments. All students will be presented with hands-on learning opportunities that deepen their classroom learning, present skills and concepts in a new way, and encourage collaboration and problem-solving skills. This program is intended for students who either enjoy math and wish to engage in it further after school with peers or students who would benefit from consistent math support by our team of CAE Learning Specialists and math teachers. Ultimately, the “Math at Maclay” program supports developing the perseverance and reasoning needed to succeed in math by building confidence.

Because we know that all students' needs and schedules are different, we’ve designed several options for registration. Families interested in preparing in advance can elect to sign their student(s) up for either once or twice a week (T/TH). For families looking for more flexibility, there is also an option for drop into sessions.

Both plans will be billed at the end of the month through FACTS. Families with students in grades 3rd-5th looking for the ease of one-time payment can sign up at maclay.org/levelup. The spring semester runs from January 9th-May 16th.

When: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 3:15-4:15

Where: The Center for Academic Excellence (students in grades 3-5 will be picked up in the Lower School) and returned to Kids Club when they’ve finished.  Cost: $50 per session
