    What is School Guidance?

Maclay’s School Guidance Department strives to provide each individual with the opportunity to develop his/her potential to the fullest extent – academically, emotionally, morally, socially, and physically – in order to meet the future challenges of higher education, services to others, and life career goals, with wisdom and fortitude.

The school counseling department takes a positive developmental approach stressing the dignity and worth of the individual. Services are provided in a confidential and caring atmosphere with the well being of the student as the foremost consideration. Accordingly, the best interests of the child are of paramount importance in all school counseling activities.

For these purposes, the school counseling department strives to achieve the following objectives:
•To help each student realize his/her potential, and in a patient and caring way challenge the individual to attain that potential.
•To act as a professional resource dedicated to the physical and mental well-being of the Maclay School community.
•To provide services which are conducive to an optimal growth and learning environment.
•To develop a healthy "school spirit" among students, parents, faculty, and community by striving to accomplish these objectives.
