Middle School at Maclay is about opportunity and discovery. Students entering Middle School are given more freedom and independence than they have had in previous years. Teachers and advisors work with students to help keep them organized and learn good study habits that will set them on a successful course. Maclay is unique in that it offers a huge variety of clubs, co-curricular activities, performing and visual arts, leadership and community service opportunities, plus over 20 athletics teams just for the middle school age student-athlete. The Guidance Office is also a support system for students and parents during these formative years and works closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to help each student reach their highest potential.
After School Center
The Middle School Center is open from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. If a student is not picked up by 3:20, or is finished with after-school help/sports early, he or she must report to the Middle School Center in Room 43. If students are wandering around campus after 3:30, they will be given a detention for not going to the Middle School Center. Students may get permission from the staff of the Middle School Center to use the library after school. From 3:15 to 4:00, the Middle School Center is a study hall. All school rules apply. If a student receives 3 detentions in the Center, he or she will be asked not to return, which means that the student must be picked up immediately after school. Parents must sign an acknowledgment that they have read the rules for the Center and must fill out an emergency care form
