Signature Programs Only at Maclay

header
At Maclay School, we offer a number of Signature Programs that were created to take our students further.  These programs offer a variety of experiences and opportunities, but all are centered around taking the student educational experience beyond the classroom and adding value to what it means to be a Maclay Marauder.

gtlss Started in 2014, the Girls Leadership & Success Series was established to help our students chart their paths to successful and fulfilling lives of leadership and impact. The GLSS presents a number of meetings throughout the school year, which focuses on teaching Maclay’s high school girls skills of self-awareness and confidence to empower them to become leaders in their communities.  The program vary from panel discussions to guest speakers to round table topics.

JIS  In 2014, Maclay’s Head of School James Milford began the conversation with the Maclay Parents Organization and the Maclay Alumni Association about ways to help prepare Maclay’s students for the critical moments they face preparing for college like interviewing for scholarships and eventually jobs.  The Jeffrey Alan Gabor Junior Interview Series introduces Maclay 11th graders to the important techniques of interviewing and then two to three opportunities to participate in mock interviews with area alumni, parents and community leaders who provide feedback and guidance.

mc Maclay Connects is a program to connect our current students with alumni in college or as professionals. Institutions that find sustained greatness through generations are those that place value in the connections they make and then transfer that value on to their graduates.  Maclay offers this exceptional value through connections with alumni and the Tallahassee community.

Character Development is an important part of the Maclay education from Pre-K through graduation.  The Honor Code values Honesty, Respect, and Accountability, are the foundation for the Marauder Moments which introduces monthly topics that are discussed in class and special assemblies.  The K-12 program focuses on teaching character traits that help our students grow as individuals.

FA The Freshman Academy at Maclay School helps provide all freshmen with tools to help them get on the right path for a successful high school career and prepared for college.  The Freshman Academy provides each student with individualized academic assistance by utilizing a “team” approach to instruction and guidance. Each freshman teacher and freshman advisor work as a team to monitor and identify the strengths, weakness, and needs of each student. We are here to see that all freshmen are given support, guidance, and encouragement to be successful.

marc The Maclay Academic Resource Center (MARC) is a support service that provides students with a quiet place to do their homework before they leave campus or get some extra help in the areas of Writing, English,  Social Studies, Science, and Math.  Mrs. Lauren Fantle and Dr. William Perry staff the MARC in the library along with peer tutors from our National Honor Society.
