General Music

All Preschool and Lower School students participate in weekly General Music classes taught by a certified music educator.  Students sing, move, play instruments, and explore the elements of music and various styles. There is a focus on teamwork, attaining long-term goals and learning to give your best effort. Students take part in the creative process and participate in musical performances such as Grand People’s Day, The Grateful Gathering, and an interdisciplinary Musical Theater unit.

The Performing Arts Department at Maclay School has several offerings for students who are interested in instrumental music.  Students may choose between Beginner Band (fifth grade), Middle School Band, or Upper School Band.  Students also have opportunities for participation in the Maclay Jazz Ensemble (U.S) and the Maclay Pep Band.
