Maclay teacher Carl Owenby has recently been awarded Senior Membership in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). ACM is an educational and scientific society uniting more than 82,000 of the world’s computing educators, researchers and professionals. It is widely recognized as the premier membership organization for computing professionals. The Senior Member Grade recognizes those ACM members with at least 10 years of professional experience and 5 years of continuous Professional Membership who have demonstrated performance that sets them apart from their peers.
Owenby teaches the only AP Computer Science course in Leon County that is currently authorized to include the “AP” designation when listed on a student’s transcript. He also teaches Computer Programming, Web Design and Middle School Computer at Maclay. He is a graduate of FSU with a BS in Computer Science and has volunteered in various areas of Technology at Maclay for 15 years before he came on staff in 2005. He and wife Helen have three children, all of whom have attended Maclay since preschool. |
